November 2025 Newsletter

Welcome to December, See you Later November!

As we move through December, I want to take a moment to reflect, not only on the meaningful progress we’ve made together for Sussex County, but also to express my sincere appreciation to everyone who joined and supported my 2nd Annual Holiday Party. Your generosity, presence, and encouragement made the evening truly special, and I am reminded once again how fortunate I am to serve as your Sussex County Commissioner and to work alongside so many dedicated residents who care deeply about our community’s future.

Four Seasons of Agriculture Update

In November, I had the opportunity to meet with our County Planning Department to review the first working version of the new Four Seasons of Agriculture website. This updated platform represents a major improvement over what previously existed online, offering a more modern and engaging user experience while providing a robust database to showcase the richness of agriculture here in Sussex County.

I’m pleased to share that this initial website will be presented to the Agriculture Development Board and shared with the Sussex County Board of Agriculture for review throughout December and into January. This process will allow participating farmers to provide feedback, suggest adjustments, and help finalize the content as we prepare for the new year.

Seeing this long-term project take shape is incredibly exciting. It provides yet another tool to preserve our agricultural heritage while supporting and promoting our local agricultural economy for the years to come.

Thank You — Jack DeGroot’s 2nd Annual Holiday Party

To everyone who supported and attended my 2nd Annual Holiday Party, Thank You! Your generosity, presence, and encouragement mean more than words can express. I also want to give special recognition to all of our sponsors; this event wouldn’t have been possible without your support, and I am deeply grateful for your generosity. It was a wonderful evening, and its success was only possible because of each of you.

As we look ahead to Christmas and into 2026, I’m reminded of the words of Micah 6:8:

“What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”

That verse captures exactly how I look to lead in the year ahead: with humility, service, and a commitment to doing what is right for our community- actions that are only truly possible through walking with the Lord, growing in character through Him, and listening to, not just hearing, the wisdom He gives.

I am grateful to walk alongside each of you—honored to serve you—and excited for what God has in store for Sussex County. I pray that He might draw you to Himself this Christmas as you take in the beauty of the Season and Holiday Cheer.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Sincerely,
Jack DeGroot
